What is Two-factor authentication (2FA)?

A second step when logging in — usually a code from your phone — so a stolen password alone can't get someone into your account.

Two-factor authentication combines something you know (your password) with something you have (your phone or a security key). Even if a scammer steals or guesses your password, they cannot log in without the second factor. Authenticator apps are stronger than SMS codes, and passkeys or hardware security keys are the strongest of all. Turn it on for your email and bank first.
