Stripping data of anything that identifies you, so it can be used without revealing who you are.
True anonymisation is hard: 'anonymous' location or browsing data can often be re-identified by combining it with other datasets. When a company promises your data is anonymised, treat it as a risk reduction, not a guarantee.
